The Diet, Day Two

No, no ~ not my diet. Pancake is on a diet! And boy, does she need to lose some serious weight. The vet called her "obese" and I have to agree with that term. Right now, as a five and a half year old cat, she weighs an astounding 23.5 pounds. We have our work cut out for us, as basically we have been feeding her "on demand" for the past year. This cat can get extremely vocal, and very behaviorally obnoxious, when she wants food. The vet's advice is to put her outside or put her in a separate area of the house when she begs for food. She is allowed to have once cup of food daily (which apparently is still too much food) and we measure it out in a separate container. Once it's gone, it's gone. Pancake was mellow yesterday and didn't seem to do much food demanding, but that was because she had 2 shots and was a bit tired out. Today started the real test....she has been on the prowl for food since 6 a.m.
