Update from Adoption Agency

We received an "official" update from our adoption agency regarding two matters. Here is my unofficial summary of what we heard:

1. Swine flu - China has had concerns about Americans bringing swine flu into their country. Therefore, people flying to China from our country are having their temperatures taken. If anyone on any plane has the "flu," then the whole plane is quarantined. This means that people stay in a clinic or a hotel until it is felt that everyone is well. A possible implication for us is that this could cause us to have a longer than normal stay in China.
2. TB - Effective July 1, any child between the ages of 2 and 14 is required to have a TB test before they leave the country. If this test is positive, then a chest x-ray is ordered. If the chest x-ray is positive, then more tests are ordered, leading to a possible lengthy in-country stay. This could cause us, again, to have to extend our stay in China.

Since we are still at some distance from actually receiving our referral, it is difficult to say how the above will impact us.
