"Why is your second China adoption taking so long?"

Ah, yes….the QUESTION. If we had a dollar for every time we've been asked this question (or every time we've asked ourselves this question), we'd be rich! Sadly, the answer to that question is that we don't know. We've heard lots of unofficial explanations, including unavailability of children that are "paper ready" to be adopted, a backlog resulting from the implementation of new rules for adopting children from China, the selling of babies on the black market causing a general slowdown in adoptions, as well as various other reasons. These reasons may be fully true, partially true or completely untrue. No one seems to know.

A web site, run by someone who calls herself The Rumor Queen, tries to provide factual information about China adoptions. For those of us who are waiting families, the web site has been a helpful place to find out what is happening in the world of China adoptions (see My Favorite Links). While we may not get any of our questions answered, at least we feel like we can tune in to some of the discussion about what is happening "out there."
